As I sit down to write this newsletter (only the second of it’s kind), I find myself in a whirlwind of emotions in the wake of this past week’s presidential election. The air is thick with tension, uncertainty of what’s to come, and for many of us, including myself, a hefty dose of stress and anxiety.

As a Black Queer woman, I am hyper-aware that I will continue to face the aftermath and consequences of this election in deeply personal ways. In times like this, when the country (and the world) feels particularly chaotic and threatening, I am reminded of our unique superpower as poets and creatives: the ability to transmute experiences (even the most challenging ones) into art, healing, and personal growth.
